Crafty updates and knitted film memorabilia

This will be a short potpourri of updates. I’m nearing the end of the Spice Market mandala pattern, and still enjoying the journey. I’m now on Part 8, which introduces an interesting Swiss-cheese like pattern composed of single crochets and chains. Slow and steady progress has thankfully resulted in not too many mistakes:

On Friday, I was having a rough day but surprised and cheered by a little packet of happiness found in my mailbox, sent by the super-talented Yasemin @yaesmade (her Instagram handle – go check out her beautiful work). This sweet lady had a giveaway, and I won a hat she made from the same yarn that she used to knit the sweater Tom Hanks wore, to play Fred Rogers in the movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. What a treat to possess a little bit of film history about something so meaningful. I watched Mr. Rogers faithfully as a child in the 1970s and I’m also a fan of Tom Hanks’ work. Thank you again, Yasemin.

Last but not least, a few shots of the nature in my own beautiful neighborhood that helps keep me sane and well-exercised. My dog Bodhi positively lives for his daily walkies. Different flowers are out now that the weather has advanced towards Summer – lotus blossoms are in bloom, marguerites are appearing, and tangles of vetch can be found humming with bees in sunny spots around the neighborhood.

That’s all I will share today, but I’ll be back soon with more craft updates – I’m working on quite a few things now that will end at about the same time. So glad you stopped by!
