My Makes · My Neighborhood

A peek at early Autumn in my neighborhood, plus WIPs

If I could pause this weather pattern and keep it all year long, I would. Warm, bright days and cool nights suit me, and so do the colors of this season. Right now, cosmos are in full bloom around my neighborhood and on campus.

We took a turn around Gyeongsan lake the other day, and admired the massive lotus leaves again, before they disappear for the winter. It’s hard to convey just how big they are – something that wouldn’t have been out of place in Alice’s Wonderland.

I’m inching along with my yarn creations. Here are a few. I made a red cowl with doubled Caron Simply Soft yarn, in color #9730 Autumn Red, and used a 9mm hook to achieve this chunky look. I may be working a bit backwards, but my idea is to create a detached poncho that coordinates with this cowl. Let’s see how that project goes.

Next is my wonderful Fedde stole, which is now about 2/3 finished. It really is kind of boring work on this one, but the result is fantastic. I can’t say enough about the drape it is taking on, using Shibui Pebble yarn.

Finally, I don’t want to forget to update my “mystery” amigurumi – which now is much less of a mystery, as I show you these wheel parts that are taking shape. I’ve done all the hub caps, and figured out the tire tread for this mystery vehicle. One complete wheel is pieced together, and stuffed generously with foam. It is really going to be cute when it is finished. It has many, many parts! So please bear with me on the progress. I’m using my tried-and-true Phildar – Phil Coton 3 yarn. More on this little vehicle, soon!

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll leave you with a few sunflowers I picked up a the traditional market yesterday.
