I spent a little time on this rainy afternoon playing with some paper from my copious stash. On my many trips to Japan, I’ve collected reams of washi, origami paper, and various scraps, so today I had plenty of creative material to help me make a simple star from a free, dowloadable PDF pattern by Maria Sinayskaya.
I wanted to make something geometric, as well as show off as many colors as possible. This 16-pointed star has pieces made from 16, 6cm square sheets, and the pieces interlock. I used a small amount of school glue at a couple of points to reinforce the lock, but otherwise, there is no other adhesive.
Check out Maria’s pattern – there is also a version for an 8-pointed star, and many other cool ideas on the website, Go Origami. You can also check out my post from Tokyo, last February, that chats about my origami experience. Cheers!
