Yesterday I wrote a bit about food nostalgia, so this WP prompt is somewhat related.
I think much more about the past than the future. One reason is I likely have many more years behind me than I have in front of me.
Wise people warn not to ruminate or dwell in the past when it involves regrets or mistakes. I’ll admit that I sometimes wade into second-guessing decisions I’ve made. As the years wear on, though, I’ve become increasingly positive and forgiving of myself, and cherry-pick my ruminations much more. I’ve shored up so many amazing memories, some poignant, some humorous, and it’s good fun to occasionally revisit them.
Staying positive is truly a discipline. I practice it daily and as with exercise of any kind, it becomes easier with time.
As for the future, I don’t want to say that my best years are behind me, but the future is unknown. The best I can do is stay an active contributor to the well-being of planet Earth and its inhabitants, and try to learn and have fun along the way.
Speaking of fun, I just completed a wonderful little kerchief-sized accoutrement with alpaca yarn I scored on my July trip to San Diego. The cobalt blue makes me happy. It’s just the color to perk up a bleak winter afternoon.

I used a 3.75mm hook with this light fingering weight yarn. Although yarn itself is light weight, the alpaca gives the scarf a cozy heft.
A last bit of news – I’ve finished writing my cushion pattern, and all that remains is to take some photos of the finished pieces. I’ll be ready to share it soon!
