My Makes

Weekender poncho

Just a quick update; we are home from a fabulous Andong trip and I’m ready to share a roomy poncho from a pattern by Crystal Bear Designs.

This poncho is constructed from mitred squares and features an oversized cowl neck and dedicated sleeve openings. It’s huge! I may not wear it much until next winter, though, since temperatures are now beginning to inch up, but this garment sure is comfortable and toasty.

I used an 8.00mm hook and a combination of Lion Brand Scarfie and Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky (solid black). I had to combine these two yarns, because my Scarfie color choice (black/royal blue) became discontinued since I bought the lot last year, and the pattern didn’t indicate enough yarn. Fortunately, I could find a reasonable substitute at the convenient Yarn Sub website.

I’ve just about cleared my craft slate to be able to start a new toy, as well as create another new pattern of my own. This upcoming semester will be one of my busiest yet, so I’ll have to work hard to keep up with everything I want to do.

I’ll check in again soon when I settle on my next toy make. Thanks for stopping by!
