My first ami of 2026 is an adorable meditating cat, from a pattern by crochet master Svitlanu at Knitting House Sveta (only through Instagram).

There’s a special place in my heart for ginger cats, so my guy is bright orange. His head, body, and gray robe are crocheted with Phildar Coton 3, my go-to amigurumi cotton yarn. I used a 2.5mm hook to keep the stitches tight. He is stuffed with poly fiberfill and is steadied with a base made from a recycled plastic card, cut and hidden beneath his body. The cat is about 21cm (8.5 inches) from base to ear tip.

Zen ginger cat is my loving reminder to cultivate equanimity and resilience in the midst of chaos. He couldn’t be more welcome than right now. At the moment, he has pride of place on my small living-room bookcase.
Next week, I’ll be on my way to California for some time away from my duties in Korea. I’ve partnered with Aniband Gouku animal rescue to bring two dogs on my flight to meet their forever families in L.A. It will be a joy to see them meet.
My sweet Bodhi will be staying at home while I travel, with his regular babysitter living in my place while I’m gone. I’m beyond lucky to have this kind young lady to rely on when I go abroad. It’s still heart-wrenching to be separated from my boy.
My next post will be a bit longer, as I have some good news and a fresh amigurumi figure to share. Until then, be well!
