Finished Kanata kerchief top

A brief check-in to share the finished Kanata kerchief top, a free pattern from Right Brain Crochet. My sister found this pattern for me so I made her one of these fun, summery numbers in a yummy shade of lemon curd.

I used a total of about 400 grams of Hi-soft 4-ply cotton blend yarn, the tried-and-true yarn I’ve already used for a couple of shawls. It comes in a bunch of colors, it’s soft, easy to work with (splits a little now and then), and economical. The yarn is also easy to get: I can order from my source in Korea and have it at my door in 48 hours.

My sister has seen the photos and approves. All that remains is to do some refinements – tuck threads, maybe sew about 1/2 – 1 inch extra up the back, and mail it! If you like the pattern, you can do a search online for the name.

This top could be a great swimsuit cover, or a summer top with a tank underneath. It is simply made with four oversize granny squares. I have figured out how to do a similar cardigan version with three panels. I’m going to order some Phildar cotton yarn and see if I can work one up, based on what I have here.

I leave you with a throwback photo from my February Tokyo trip – plastic food in Kappabashi! Japan seems so far away, now. I hope to go back soon.

Thanks for stopping by! Stay safe and see you again soon.
