My Makes

New Balsam shawl and amigurumi WIP

Just popping in to post a rustic, triangular Balsam Scarf/shawl, using wonderful Remix yarn by Berroco. It’s a recycled yarn that contains nylon, cotton, acrylic, silk, and linen, and it is nicely textured and a joy to work with. This is the second shawl I’ve made using this yarn. It may be hard to see in the photo – the Eggplant is a deep purple shade that is flecked with pink and white tweed. There are three generous tassels for the corners.

PHOTO: Balsam scarf pattern by Berroco, using Remix yarn. My newest one is in color 3973 Eggplant; one that I made in August 2020 is in 3984 Ocean. The yarn can be found at yarn.com, and I’ve also seen it on EBay. Last photo shows tiny snacks for a new amigurumi friend in the works. These were crocheted with Phildar Coton 3 yarn and a 3.00mm hook.

It has been awhile since I tackled an amigurumi figure, and I really miss the challenge, so recently I began a project from the newly-published Zoomigurumi Favorites collection. I’ll keep the identity a mystery, for now, but I should be finished as soon as I receive one crucial part in the mail. A photo above shows two tiny, crocheted garden goodies that are waiting for the ami, once he’s finished. I’m looking forward to sharing this mystery figure with you.

  1. My first comment disappeared! Or maybe I just forgot to hit reply? Never mind, I will try again!
The shawl looks lovely, and yes I can see the flecks of other colour in it. What lovely wool!
The little snacks are too cute for words! I could never make something so dainty! Well done
