Under the wire with my first post in a month, and the last and only post for March! While on vacation in January, I predicted I'd have a rough time of it in March, as I have an extraordinarily heavy load at work this semester. Not to worry - I find time to play whenever… Continue reading Early Spring bloom + craft update

Bloganuary: “What brings you joy in life?” + crafty bits
I'm on a roll now with five Bloganuary posts in a row, and five really meaty prompts. It's a breakneck pace, I know, but I'll try to keep up... The things that bring me joy in life really boil down to simple things. Meaningful connections with other human beings and animals; creating something beautiful and/or… Continue reading Bloganuary: “What brings you joy in life?” + crafty bits
A quick hello – WIPs and ginkgo leaves
It’s already mid-November - my semester is a race to the finish. Only three weeks to go before final exams start! I’ve managed to make slow progress on some crafty items, including a gnome figure that still needs his beard and hat. The photo shows that he’s already got his suspenders and the cutest rainbow… Continue reading A quick hello – WIPs and ginkgo leaves
WIP update – weekend makes
Just a quick one to give a progress report on some current projects. I’ve finally hooped up the Ukrainian mandala, which measures about 16 inches across. It isn’t as tightly stretched as I’d like, but still good for display. Now I’m inspired to do a bigger one, and maybe add fringe or even beads. PHOTOS:… Continue reading WIP update – weekend makes
WIP progress report
I’ve been working in the round lately 😆 About two days ago, I started a fast-moving circular cardigan with a fun mandala pattern on the back. I’m using Lang Sunshine Wool Addicts yarn, a sumptuous, glossy mercerized cotton. It has a braided structure which contributes to a nice stitch definition. This yarn has been in… Continue reading WIP progress report
WIP check-in : baby blanket and shawl
I hope this finds you well. Checking in with a couple of my current crochet doings. The first is a wonderful baby blanket that uses a traditional corner-to-corner technique, and Bernat Velvet yarn in color Smokey Blue. I love this shade of blue - it's almost periwinkle. The finished article will be for a special… Continue reading WIP check-in : baby blanket and shawl
Mini update: New Life mandala in progress
My semester is back in full swing, and I'm alternating between the classroom and Zoom classes, as the Covid protocols make the return to "normal" life a bit rocky for the time being. There are a couple of small projects I have started recently that I can fit into short bursts of free time that… Continue reading Mini update: New Life mandala in progress
Tweedy poncho is finished! + Seollal, Year of the tiger
Welcome to a new Lunar New Year, a new month, and to my finally-finished Tweedy Poncho! I so enjoyed this poncho project and look forward to wearing it, especially since it uses one of my favorite yarns - Rowan Felted Tweed. The poncho is from a pattern in Issue 141 of Inside Crochet magazine. PHOTOS:… Continue reading Tweedy poncho is finished! + Seollal, Year of the tiger
Busan sea views; new crochet poncho project
My plans to go back the U.S. have been postponed until July, so in Korea I remain for the time being. The pandemic has presented complications that have kept me in a kind of physical limbo, but I'm doing my best to use my time well, which includes digging into several fun art projects I've… Continue reading Busan sea views; new crochet poncho project
Octagon blanket is nearly finished & bonus! :) Peach pie
We are deep into monsoon season here in South Korea. I think last time I wrote, I described a torrential rain; we had a heat wave after that, and now thunderstorms have returned. Peaches are in season now, and for awhile I've been imagining a wonderful peach tart, so I made one this evening, with… Continue reading Octagon blanket is nearly finished & bonus! 🙂 Peach pie
